the rewards i found when making natural goat milk soap

I recently made another batch of my homemade goat milk lye soap. I make it using as many natural and organic products as possible. Being a pharmacist, it reminds me of chemistry class having to be careful not to burn myself with the lye. The cook in me also enjoys carefully weighing out each ingredient and mixing each one at the appropriate time. I consider this a hobby and something I do to make time for myself. I also have extras, which I sell, barter, and gift, depending on the situation.

I love to get in the kitchen. I sometimes enjoy working in silence and sometimes listen to my favorite YouTube channels. Either way, the time passes very enjoyably and I get something productive done at the same time.

We purchase the goat milk from farmers in bulk and freeze it for future use in the soap. Goats are so cute in person! We briefly had goats of our own, and really enjoyed it, but realized it was not the right time in our life for these extra cute animals. We now enjoy supporting our local farms.

The soap has so many good benefits. When I took a soap making class I learned so much about soap in general. I took the basic recipe we learned from and I have tweaked it several times. For one, I don’t enjoy the smell of lard cooking so I use different oils so that using lard isn’t necessary. I also changed the formula to “super fat” the soap. This means that it may not be as hard a bar as some, but it is so much better for your skin. I have super sensitive skin, which is what got me hooked on making soap in the first place. Because of this, I have modified it so that I can wash every square inch of myself with this soap and have no issues.

I recently gave some soap away to a gentleman my husband bought a vehicle from, as a thank you. He asked me if I sell it because the dry flaky skin around his nose is gone! He was so happy. It’s always nice to hear good reviews. Please get in touch if you ever want to buy some! I am also happy to make it to order, but realize it has to cure for 6 weeks. I’ll make it unscented or with the scent of your choice but I only use doTERRA or Plant Therapy oils for now, as that is what I own. I do not use fragrance oils. You can find my soaps for sale on Etsy as well, go try some!
